The two day summit themed ‘All hands on deck: towards a low carbon economy, was hosted by the City of Johannesburg in partnership with South African Local Government Association (SALGA).

SALGA Chairperson and Executive Mayor of Johannesburg, Councilor Amos Masondo addressed the summit and stated “One of the actions taken by the city to deal with the influx, is the establishment of migrant helpdesk to provide legal migrants and asylum seekers with information on basic services such as housing, education and healthcare in the city,” The summit focused on issues of migration and the impact of the 2010 World Cup on the environment and sanitation.
